Downloading Images/Media
This page describes how to download media resources from a Symbiota portal.
It is incumbent upon data users to abide by usage rights when downloading media resources (e.g., images) from Symbiota portals. Usage rights appear on collection profiles, occurrence records, and in each portal community's respective Data Usage Guidelines (Sitemap > Media Library > Usage Policy and Copyright Information).
Download Media Files Individually
Media files can be downloaded directly by opening the media resource from an occurrence record and saving locally:
Batch Media Downloading
An R script has been developed to batch download media files listed as URLs in a CSV or Darwin Core Archive-derived multimedia file. Note that this tool was developed for downloading images and may not work with all media types.
